On April 12, the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2018 (the “Imagine Cup”) Guangzhou Regional Finals was held in the “Unicorn Field” of Heung Kong International Technovation Center in Nansha. After heated competitions, the 98K Squad from Jinan University was eventually awarded the champion of Guangzhou regional finals with its handheld intelligent spectrometer.

It is said that the JNU 98k Squad will participate in the China semi-finals of the 2018 Microsoft Imagine Cup Global Student Technology Competition in late April, during which it will conduct online debates and project building, and in case it’s selected to go to the China finals, it will compete with finalist teams from all around the country for tickets to the global finals.

This year, the Microsoft Imagine Cup Guangzhou regional competition was held by Heung Kong's “Unicorn Field” Accelerator of the Microsoft Cloud & Mobile Technology Incubation Program - Guangzhou Cloud & Mobile APP Incubator for the first time, and guided by the Nansha Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. This competition has attracted over 100 students to sign up, and eventually 11 student teams from local universities such as SCUT, SYSU,JNU and GDUT will compete in the Guangzhou regional finals.

 “In addition to finding good ideas and projects from the Microsoft Imagine Cup contest, we wish to transfer the contest into a talents gathering platform, and thus truly help the outstanding university students from Guangzhou with fair and professional competition system and simultaneous building of technology and commerce.” said Feng Jianlin, CEO of Heung Kong's “Unicorn Field”.

Finally, the 98K Squad won the first place, the Kaichebufanche got the second place and CVAI Lab and Niaowojiaoyu is tied for the third place in the Guangzhou regional finals.

More importantly, all project teams enlisted in the Microsoft Imagine Cup Guangzhou regional finals will have access to the Microsoft Cloud & Mobile Technology Incubation Program - Guangzhou Cloud & Mobile APP Incubator, and a series of entrepreneurship guidance and various value added services to be provided by the incubator.
